SHOPPING; Market or Mall

SHOPPING; Market or Mall
From trudging through the small lanes of the ever busy neighbourhood markets, the nearby stores, hitting the supermarkets with your friends or sometimes with your family, shopping always is a wonderful experience and it is fast becoming a favourite past time for Africans especially we the Nigerians.
For some of us, shopping is much more than an enjoyable pastime and with the slow rise of mega malls in other parts of Africa and the rest of the world, many have come to see shopping for what it is. A thrilling and often interesting experience.
Many still think there’s nothing like bending down ‘bend down select’ and going shopping the real way at markets like the Idumota, one of the oldest markets in Lagos Nigeria which is said to be the largest in West Africa with tens of thousands of lock up shops occupying various buildings.
The haggling over prices and witty exchanges between customer and seller has been relished by some of us. One can even argue that the majority of us still prefer and shop in this way as it is often cheaper, more economical and devoid of the impersonal nature that one gets when shopping in a mall where every good comes with a fixed price.
The palms, City Mall. E-Centre, Silverbird Galleria and the Mega
Plaza amongst others are some of the malls that have opened
across the country in past years.
It is fun, therapeutic and a creative outlet. So wherever it is, from Eko to Idumota, from the Palms to the Galleria, from the E-Centre to the open market at Oshodi, LETS GO SHOPPING.
